Ed and The Fence Post Agency
Ed Rosales was raised in Ranger, Texas, where working the land and riding horses weren’t hobbies but a way of growing up. The son of a farrier, he spent his childhood helping neighbors round up cattle, riding the range, and learning firsthand what it takes to run a working ranch.
At just six years old, he started bull riding and roping—not as a pastime, but as part of a life that revolved around cattle and hard work. The grit, responsibility, and self-reliance that come with ranching are in his blood.
Later, Ed pursued his studies at Texas A&M University, focusing on Agribusiness before shifting his focus to public health at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. This unique blend of livestock management, business acumen, and rural community health experience gave him an unparalleled understanding of the real risks cattlemen and dairy farmers face every day.
He saw the problem, and he set out to fix it.
What We Protect
Ten years ago, while working in food security and public health, Ed saw a massive gap in the market—ranchers and farmers were chronically underinsured.
Some didn’t have insurance at all. Others thought they were covered—until disaster struck, and they realized their policies were riddled with holes. Too many stories ended the same way: herds and operations wiped out without a lick of compensation.
Ed dug deeper. What did ranchers actually need? Why weren’t they getting it? The answer was clear: NEGLECT.
Large insurance carriers weren’t paying attention. Agents weren’t explaining policies, important coverages were missing, and decisions were being made from behind a desk rather than in the field. Some companies even relied on drone images instead of actually visiting the land—only insuring what they could see from the sky.
The final straw was when Ed met a client who had not been contacted by her ‘agent’ in eight years. EIGHT YEARS! To say it made Ed angry is being downright polite.
